In a rematch of one of the closest conference tilts for either team this season, the hosts took the lead in the sixth minute and scored two goals in quick succession to earn the season sweep over the Pioneers.Ā

Micaiah Garan made his return between the posts and made seven saves on 10 shots. Garan stopped all five shots he faced in the second half.Ā

The hosts took the lead at 5:01. Sid Kosaris sent a corner kick into the middle of the box and E.J. Sablan rose up and headed the ball towards net. The shot richoceted off a Pioneers defender and bounced just inside the far post.Ā

Linfield put the game away with two goals in 83 seconds.Ā

Evan Stafford started the run when he tried to split three Pioneers defenders in the box and drew a penalty kick at 34:59. Cameron Gaines stepped to the spot and blasted a shot into the top-left corner to make it 2-0.

Linfield came away with a steal in the midfield moments after the restart and drove towards the Pioneers box where they drew a foul just outside the 18-yard box on the far side. On the free kick, Tate Bliss sent a low cross towards the near post and Ross Vargo's flick on snuck in to make it 3-0 at 36:22.Ā

Lewis & Clark would go up a man for the final 10:40 when the Wildcats Evan Stafford was whistled for a second yellow card. The Pioneers used their man advantage to create their first shot on target of the second half. Off a cross into the box that was punched down, Koo collected the ball with his back to goal, spun on his defender and sent a hard low shot to the near post that Linfield goalie Colby Reese was able to push out of danger.Ā

BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pioneers four shots on target are tied for their second-most of the season.Ā
- Linfield earned a 20-4 edge in total shots and 10-4 lead in shots on target.
- Ali Alfstad, Emmett Olson, Walson, Weinstein and Garan all played the full 90 minutes. Alfstad played a full game for the first time in his collegiate career. He previously set his career-high on Saturday against Puget Sound when he played 63 minutes in his first collegiate start.
