For the first time all season, Lewis & Clark played a scoreless first quarter. The Lutes had the best drive of the quarter. Pacific Lutheran went on a 12-play, 52-yard drive on their opening possession of the game. The Lutes had a fourth and six from the Pioneers 32 but Sarmento kept up with a receiver cutting across the middle and brought down Connor Meade a yard shy of the sticks to force a turnover on downs.Â
Â
Pacific Lutheran would take control of the game in the second quarter as they would outscore the Pioneers 21-7.Â
Â
The Lutes took the lead on the first play of the stanza when quarterback Darius Chaffin scrambled out of the pocket and turned the corner for a 10-yard touchdown run.Â
Â
After punting on their first three possessions of the game, Lewis & Clark tied the game with 8:46 to go before halftime. The Pioneers covered 51 yards in four plays with Kamakawiwoole finding Guest for a 35-yard pass to bring the ball down to the two-yard line. On first and goal from the one, Morris handed off to Glover for a one-yard touchdown run.Â
Â

The Lutes would add a fourth touchdown in five drives to begin the second half and push their advantage to 28-7.Â
Â
With their backs against the wall, Lewis & Clark's offense began to click. The Pioneers would score touchdowns on each of their next three drives.Â
Â

Guest came up with a 35-yard catch to put the Pioneers in the red zone and Kamakawiwoole found Walker all alone in the end zone for a six-yard touchdown catch to make it 31-21 with 1:43 to go in the third quarter.Â
Â

Â
Lewis & Clark brought the ball to the edge of the red zone on their ensuing drive but a false start penalty and an incomplete pass forced a 42-yard field goal attempt that went just wide.Â
Â
Pacific Lutheran got back on track offensively as they tried to put the game away. The Lutes tried to kill the clock with a 12-play, 49-yard drive that took seven minutes off the clock. On fourth and one from the Pioneers 26,
Kahiau Chang stood up the running back for no gain to give the ball back to Lewis & Clark with 2:10 to play.Â
Â
The Pioneers drove the ball down to the 23-yard line. Guest came through with three catches for 39 yards on the drive and first year
Dante Washington made a huge two-yard catch on fourth and one, where he was hit behind the line of scrimmage but shrugged off the tackle and lunged forward to extend the game. With the clock running low, Lewis & Clark used their final timeout and brought out the field goal team, but the field goal went just wide.
