HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
Krassner-Cybulski's goal proved to be the difference, as the senior notched her fourth-consecutive game-winning goal and a goal in a seventh-consecutive contest.Â
Â
Wednesday's game was tightly contested throughout with both teams struggling to create quality chances because of the opposing team's stingy defense. The teams combined to finish with 24 fouls, with both sides being whistled a dozen times.Â
Â
The visitors held a 5-1 edge in shots at the half but only two shots were on target and neither bothered
Anna Ingadottir.Â
Â
The game became more wide-open in the second half with both sides pushing for a late goal.Â
Â
Willamette had their best chance to take the lead in the 71
st minute, when Krassner-Cybulski received a pass in behind the Pioneers defense but Ingadottir went down to a knee and deflected the senior's shot, before jumping up to corral the loose ball.Â
Â
The Bearcats took the lead just over 10 minutes later. A Pioneers defender jumped in front of Krassner-Cybulski's first shot at the near post, but the senior pounced on the rebound and sent a low right-footed shot past the defender and Ingadottir for a 1-0 lead at 81:33.Â
Â
Lewis & Clark would earn back-to-back corners in the 86
th and 87
th minutes but both times the Bearcats goalie punched the ball out of danger.
Â
The Pioneers created one final chance with 12 seconds left on the clock.
Carli Driskill sent a free kick into the box that was loaded with Pioneers. The ball bounced around and found it's way to the far post to
Abby Hayes, but her shot went wide of the net just before time expired.Â
Â
