HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior
Anna Ingadottir anchored the Pioneers' defense, tying her career-high with seven saves against the Bruins, including five in the second half. Ingadottir last recorded seven saves in Newberg on October 30, 2022, against the Bruins.
George Fox opened the scoring at 6:35 when Liv Haima found the back of the net, assisted by Becca Kozak.
Lewis & Clark responded quickly, with junior
Carli Driskill booting a free kick from outside the left side of the penalty box. The ball landed in front of junior
Kate Meinhard in the middle of the goal area, who one-touched the ball outside to Miller. The first-year connected on a high-kick, sending the ball past the Bruins' Emily Robey to score the equalizer at 13:38 for her first collegiate goal. Meinhard recorded her first career assist on the goal.
First-year
Kailani Pascua gave the Pioneers a chance to take the lead in the 35
th minute. She raced down the field and sent a solid kick from the top of the penalty box on the far side to the goal, but Robey dove for the stop.
In the 40
th minute, Haima attempted to score again for George Fox, but the ball bounced off the top of the crossbar and landed in bounds. The Bruins picked up the rebound and found Haima again in the goal area, but Meinhard was there to kick the ball out and record a team save.
Haima broke the deadlock just before halftime, scoring her second goal at 43:45 to give George Fox a 2-1 lead.
Senior
Abby Hayes attempted to tie the game with less than 30 seconds before halftime with a chip shot in traffic that rolled just right of the far post.
Lewis & Clark continued to press for an equalizer in the second half. Junior
Megan Yanagi, Driskill and first-year
Siena Flock forced saves from Robey, while Meinhard narrowly missed the target.
The Pioneers' defense held firm for much of the half, with Ingadottir making crucial saves between the 69
