PORTLAND, Ore. –Lewis & Clark College women's soccer gave up an early goal to Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon; still, senior keeper
Sophia Young saved four goals in 68 minutes of play during the Northwest Conference loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Young made two great saves for the Pioneers on Saturday despite the Lutes finding the back of the net four times, including their opening goal by Hannah Cecil 54 seconds into the game. Young denied Cecil in the 11
th minute, deflecting the ball off the near post and keeping the score 1-0 early.
Later in the game, Young parried the ball over the bar for a corner, denying Cecil again, who sent a long ball towards the goal in the 62
nd minute.
In the Pioneers' best shot to score in the first half, sophomore
Carson Warfield launched a free kick from 30 yards out in the 31
st minute, but the ball hit off the crossbar. Sophomore

Grace Smith were the other Pios to challenge the Lutes Abby Winkler at the net in the first half. Smith and senior
Sasha Raimondo were the only Lewis & Clark players to get off shots in the second 45 minutes.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Smith has recorded three shots in a game three times this season and has had at least one shot on goal in the past three games.
- Yanagi leads the team in shots (22) and shots on goal (12) this season.
- The Pioneers were out shot (16-8) for only the third time this season.
