HOW IT HAPPENED
Ā
The Pioneers took another step forward on Wednesday as they played one of their most competitive games of the season and showed positive signs on both offense and defense.Ā
Ā
Sophomore
Kaushal Riedman and freshmen
Emmett Olson,
Clay Scarth and
Owen Carroll did a phenomenal job in the first 45 minutes of limiting George Fox to just six shots and only two on target. The quartet played extremely well individually and as a group and consistently stymied the Bruins into the second half.Ā
Ā
Sophomore goalie
Ben Tallent was active in coming off his line and contributed four saves. He made a phenomenal one-hand parry save in the second half on a blistering shot from distance to keep the Pioneers in the game.Ā
Ā
Offensively, Lewis & Clark posted a season-high 10 shots and showed positive signs in their linkup play and play around the box. Sophomore
Aashir Walson, freshman
Nadav Dicovski and Riedman each posted two shots in the contest.Ā
Ā
After 56+ minutes of even play, George Fox grabbed the lead thanks to a penalty in the 57
thĀ minute. A Bruin went down right at the edge of the box and Eugene Peltier stepped up and found the back of the net for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.Ā
Ā
George Fox doubled their lead less than three minutes later. Tallent made the initial save on a hard, low shot from distance but the rebound fell for Kellin Aguiar to make it 2-0 at 59:30.Ā
Ā
The Bruins added a third goal in the 64
thĀ minute and tacked on a fourth goal on a Pioneers own goal at 74:39.Ā
