HOW IT HAPPENED

Playing their first game outside of the Pacific Northwest since 1990, Lewis & Clark ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Preseason Favorites.

Sophomore keepers Ben Tallent and Declan Cloutier split time in net for the Pioneers. Tallent made five saves on eight shots in the first half to keep Lewis & Clark within striking distance. Cloutier tacked on one save in the second half.

Freshmen Zidane Indarta (shot on goal), Nathaniel Pi-Sunyer and sophomore Daniel Estoll all recorded one shot for the Pioneers in the contest.

The hosts opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Oury Diane scored at 8:52. Charlie Miller doubled the Tigers lead at 15:46.

Andrew Notter scored a brace with a goal on either side of halftime. Notter made it 3-0 at 38:53 and pushed Occidental's lead to 4-0 at 61:05.

The Tigers closed out the scoring at 85:58 with a goal from Kai Fiedelholtz.
