MEDFORD, Mass.—Lewis & Clark College track & field sophomore
Max Aldrich ran the second-fastest time in program history in the 3,000m at the Tufts University Last Chance Meet on Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS
Aldrich ran a personal-record time of over 18 seconds to move up from third to second all-time in the 3K.
The sophomore placed eighth overall in a field of some of the top Division-III runners from multiple regions. His mark of 8:32.57 placed him eighth out of 13 runners who began the race and just ahead of Ryan Smith from Bates College who finished in 8:32.71.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Aldrich improved his career-best time in the event by 18.20 seconds.
- He passed Sean Richardson ('20) for second-place all-time in the event. Richardson's time of 8:40.16 was the program record at that point, before George Karamitsos reset the program record last winter.
- Aldrich was running the 3,000m for the just the second time in his career. He previously ran the race on February 26, 2022 at the Seattle Pacific Final Qualifier.
- The Pioneers wrap up the indoor track & field season having set 16 indoor records (eight men's, eight women's).

Aldrich and the Lewis & Clark track & field team will return to action the weekend of March 17-18 when the Pioneers will host the L&C Spring Break Open.
