SALEM, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College women's track & field freshman
Piper McCoy Harmon posted a PR in the javelin throw to finish sixth overall on Saturday at the Willamette Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After competing on Friday night in the discus and shot put, McCoy Harmon was the Pioneers sole competitor on Saturday at Willamette.
She was one of 13 competitors in the event with student-athletes competing from all three NCAA Division III levels and NAIA.
McCoy Harmon's first throw traveled 29.83m. On her second go around, she launched the javelin 36.55m (119-11 feet) to move into fifth place and punch her ticket to the finals of the event. She didn't improve upon her second throw over her final four chances, although she did clear 105 feet with her sixth and final throw.
BY THE NUMBERS
- McCoy Harmon finished second amongst five Division III competitors.
- With her throw of 36.55m, McCoy Harmon stays in ninth place in program history but improved her collegiate PR by over 1.5 meters.
- She currently sits 23rd in Division III in the event.

Lewis & Clark women's track & field will continue off a busy stretch during Spring Break. The Pioneers will travel to compete at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic (San Francisco) and the Pacific University Multis and Pacific Open.
