Jordan Lahusky set the program record in the 60M dash and freshman
Jonathan Fritz finished third in two events to lead Lewis & Clark College men's indoor track & field in their final regular season meet on the indoor season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lahusky and Fritz combined to post three third-place finishes at the George Fox University Indoor #2 Meet.
Lahusky got the Pioneers off to a strong start when he led eight Lewis & Clark runners in the 60M dash. In the prelims, he ran a program-record setting 7.07 to finish third overall. He crossed the line in the final in 7.11 to finish in third-just .08 out of first place.
Junior
Devon Guest placed second on the team in the event. He just missed the 10-man final, after placing 11
th in 7.39. Freshman
Nicholas Stade (7.43) was third on the team.
Paul Biaggi (7.62),
Sean Bodi (7.75),
Daniel Madhavan (7.87),
Will Laskey (8.11) and
Connor Smyth (8.42) rounded out the Pioneers field.
Fritz paced the team in the 60M hurdles. Fritz edged out Stade, his fellow multis competitor, with the pair placing third (8.90) and fourth (9.11). Smyth finished sixth overall (10.60), with Madhavan (11.44) coming in seventh.
Fritz added a collegiate-best jump in the long jump to add a second-third place finish on the day. He leapt 6.50M (21-04.00 feet) on his first jump to place third in an 11-man field.
Freshman
Andrew Baum led three Pioneers in the shot put. Baum's second throw traveled 12.61M (41-04.50 feet) to help him finish fifth overall. Senior
Elijah Woody took seventh (11.93M) and freshman
Andrew Fletcher steadily improved over the course of his six throws to post a collegiate-best 9.85M on his final throw (eighth place).
Stade was the Pioneers lone representative in the high jump. He finished sixth in the event with a jump of 1.75M (5-08.75 feet).
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lahusky broke the 60M dash record that had almost been broken one week ago. Last Friday, Fritz tied the program record with a 7.16 in the first event of the multis at the Whitworth Invitational. The original mark of 7.16 was set in 2020 by Isam Tahir.
- Fritz moved into second place in program history in the long jump (6.50). His previous best mark (6.19) was fourth all-time.
- Baum (12.61M) and Woody (11.93M) each improved upon their season-best marks in the shot put. They stand second and third in program history in the event.
- Fritz's time of 8.90 in the 60M hurdles is the fourth-fastest time in program history.
- Fletcher and Bodi made their collegiate track & field debuts on Friday.

Friday's meet marked the Pioneers final indoor track regular season meet. The Pioneers will have one final shot to earn a spot at the 2023 Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet in two weeks at a Last Chance Meet.
