PORTLAND, Ore. – Women's basketball was only down 31-29 at halftime, but a Lewis & Clark College scoring drought of 7:35 between the third and fourth quarters helped Linfield University pick up a 63-46 Northwest Conference win in Pamplin Sports Center on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior
Charlotte Carroll led the scoring for the Pioneers with a season-high 13 of the team's 46 points, adding four rebounds and a steal against the Wildcats.
Freshman
Lauryn Frederickson finished with a team-high 12 rebounds and a career-high two blocks, while she and senior
Karli Mukai chipped in eight points each.
Jamison Richards added six points to the total and finished with a team-high three steals and two assists on the night while adding six rebounds.
Fredrickson started the night with a defensive rebound and took it coast-to-coast to score the game's first basket. Field goals by Richards and senior
Natalie Elstone (4 points, 3 rebounds) gave Lewis & Clark an early 6-2 lead, but Linfield took their first lead, 7-6, on two made free throws by leading scorer Gillyan Landis (18 Points) just under four minutes into the game. Freshman
Kaela Guidry (4 points) hit her first shot at 3:03 in the first quarter. Guidry grabbed a defensive rebound 30 seconds later and found Frederickson in the paint to put the Pioneers up 16-12. Eve Burke hit two free throws with 25 seconds left in the first stanza to put the Wildcats on top 18-16, a lead they would not surrender the rest of the night.
Linfield extended their lead to six on back-to-back shots to start the second quarter. Muaki hit both free throws at 8:33 to pull Lewis & Clark within 20-22. The Wildcats extended their lead to six again, but a free throw by sophomore
Tatiana Rebanal and a steal from Elstone ending with a layup pulled the team within 31-29 at halftime.
The Wildcats opened the second half on a 15-4 run, during which Carroll and Guidry made layups for the Pioneers to take a 46-33 lead before the third-quarter media timeout. Two free throws by Richards and five consecutive points by Carroll were part of a 7-2 run that pulled Lewis & Clark within 48-40 with 1:38 left in the quarter.
That's when the Pioneers' cold shooting troubles began, as they were unable to score again until Mukai hit a jump shot at 4:03 in the final quarter to make the score 60-42. After that, neither team would score again until Landis hit the second of two free throws with just under two minutes to go. Richards made two free throws at 1:05 to make it 61-44. They then found freshman
DJ Kendrick, who was making her collegiate debut, with six seconds left, in the paint to produce the final score.
