TACOMA, Wash. –The Lewis & Clark College men's soccer dropped their final road game 5-0 Pacific Lutheran University, and the Lutes clinched their fifth Northwest Conference men's soccer title since the 2017 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Micaiah Garan recorded six saves in his fifth start and 67 minutes of play, and classmate
Keahi Meredith made his third appearance in the net with 23 minutes.
Pacific Lutheran jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals in the 7
th and 18
th minutes by Trevor Thompson and Craig Johnson, the top two scorers for the Lutes. Garan made four of his six saves in the first half; two of those stops were shots made by the Lutes' fourth-leading scorer, Robby Guyer.
The Lutes went up 3-0 on a goal by Alex White at 50:12. Johnson attempted to extend the lead but had a shot blocked in the 52
nd minute. Garan recorded his fifth save on another Johnson attempt at 57:57. Sammy Tafolla extended the Lutes' lead to 4-0 when his corner kick hit the back of the net at the far post at 61:55. Johnson booted a ball from the left side of the box in the 65
th minute, but Garan deflected the ball in the lower right corner and out for his sixth save of the game.
Meredith surrendered one goal in relief of Garan, a score by Connor O'Brien at 77:16 to produce the final 5-0 score.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Garan has registered 11 saves and faced 46 shots in two starts against Pacific Lutheran this season.
- The Pioneers were outshot 25-0; it is the first time they did not record a shot since a 1-0 loss at Pacific last season.
