Portland, Ore. – Lewis and Clark College competed hard in a 25-20, 25-19, 25-14 loss to defending Northwest Conference Champions Whitworth University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Whitworth jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set, but the Pioneers used a 5-0 run towards the end of the first set to make the score 23-20. Freshman
Ellie Weber had five of her ten kills in helping the Pios keep the score close. The Pirates closed out the set off a kill by Madison Lee and an ace by Eva Millan.
The Pios were hot to start the second set and led 3-0. They didn't relinquish the lead to the Pirates until 18-17 in the set. Senior
Izzy Willis had five of her 13 kills and a block assist to lead Lewis and Clark in the set.
The final set saw Lewis and Clark keep the score close and tie the set at 5-5 off a kill by Weber. Whitworth then went on a 9-0 run to take control.

Ashley Kane dished out eight assists in her return. Junior
Katie Shimaura had nine digs for the Pios.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Bethany Ballesteros dished out 13 assists, making it the seventh-straight match she has posted double-digit assists.
- Annika Traxler had four of the Pios' ten block assists.
- Willis led all players in kills for the second-straight match.
