Portland, Ore. – Lewis and Clark College produced their best hitting percentage in conference play, in a three-set loss to Whitman College at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis and Clark hung with Whitman to start the first set. From the opening serve to
Izzy Willis' fourth kill, there were eight tie scores and four lead changes. The Blues then closed out the set on an 11-3 run to take control of the match.
The second set started with the Pios keeping the score close and pulled with one point on a Blues error at 7-6. Lewis and Clark got their defense going with six block assists and put together a 4-0 run at set point to close a nine-point deficit to Whitman.
The Pioneers again started strong in the third set, and
Annika Traxler had three of her six kills to keep the score close early. The Blues used an 11-3 run to pull away and close the match.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Traxler led the team with a .294 hitting percentage.
- Lewis and Clark had five total team blocks to Whitman's three.
- Emma Ehlers had four block assists to lead the Pios.
