THE BASICS
La Verne 2, Lewis & Clark 0
(Lewis & Clark 0-2)
(La Verne 2-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The hosts controlled the statsheet from the outset and used first-half goals from Reagan Appelby and Sarah Ramirez to capture the win.

For the second-straight game, the Pioneers offense struggled to generate shots in the first half and posted their only two shots of the game in the second half.

After generating three corner kicks and hitting a post in the first 12 minutes, La Verne broke the deadlock in the 28th minute. Appelby scored right after a corner kick, with Ana Preciado picking up the assist.

Neither side created any offense for nearly nine minutes, before Ramirez made it 2-0 at 36:54.

Lewis & Clark began to pressure the hosts in the final 15 minutes.

Freshman Carson Warfield forced a save in the 78th minute and then her shot in the 87th went just wide of the net.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Freshman goalie Delaney Jones made her collegiate debut in the second half and stopped the one shot she faced.
  • The Leopards outshot the Pioneers 10-2 and 4-1 in shots on goal.
  • Sophia Young made one save on three shots in her second start of the season.
