Portland, Ore. – The Northwest Conference volleyball match between Lewis and Clark College and Pacific Lutheran University came down to scoring runs and serve receive.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Izzy Willis,
Katie Shimaura, and sophomore
Bethany Ballesteros had a solid night for the Pioneers.
Willis led all players with 11 kills, and Shimaura led all players with 17 digs. Ballesteros recorded her second double-double of the season (11 assists, 15 digs).
The first set between the Pios and Lutes was a back-and-forth battle that saw nine ties and three lead changes. The score was tied at 20 all before PLU went on a 5-1 run to close out the set.
Pacific Lutheran took control of the second set by hitting .222 from the floor and serving five aces on Lewis & Clark. Sophomore Claire Hindman served three aces in a row during a 5-0 run for the Lutes. Â
The match's final set saw another nine ties and four lead changes. The Lutes closed out the match on an 8-1 run after being tied at 17.
BY THE NUMBERS
- For the sixth straight match, Bethany Ballesteros dished out double-digit assists.
- Saturday's match was the 12th-straight loss for the Pios in the series with the Lutes.
