Portland, Ore. – Lewis & Clark volleyball dropped their first home match of the 2022 season against Northwest Conference adversary Pacific in three sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pioneers held their own in the first set of the match and outhit the Boxers .192 to .139. Sophomore outside hitter
Debi Chun had two of her team-high seven kills to help the Pios keep the score close. Lewis & Clark also won the defensive battle in the first set, out blocking Pacific 3-1.
Izzy Willis (6 kills) and
Emily Strand had three block assists on the night. While junior libero
Katie Shimaura finished with a team-high 14 digs.
Mara Murphy (13 kills) and Charlotte Powell (10 kills) powered the Boxers offensive attack, with Powell hitting .769 on 13 attempts.
A slow start by Lewis & Clark in the second set led to Pacific jumping out to a 5-0 lead. The visiting team outhit the Pios .268 to .103.
The third set began much like the previous set, with the Boxers leading 6-0. Lewis & Clark got within three (7-4), but the opposing hitters were too much down the stretch.
The raucous crowd in Pamplin Sports Center never gave up and supported the Pios until the end.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Friday night's match was the first of a five-match home stand for Lewis & Clark.
- Ballesteros continued to post double-digit assists in her fifth-straight match.
