PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark Pioneers women's tennis team handled business with a 9-0 win on Senior Day over the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday at the L&C Tennis Dome.
Seniors Maca Vives and Rachael Rice came back from a 5-2 deficit to beat the Bearcats top pair on court one and also help close out doubles competition for the Pioneers with a 3-0 advantage.

Key Moments
The Pioneers began Senior Day with three doubles matches. On court two, Caren Uribe and Eadie Poulsen stayed in control and closed out their match quickly with an 8-0 win.
Lauren Smith-Euben and Kacie Lau kept a considerable lead in third doubles throughout the match and finished 8-2.
Vives and Rice started off their doubles match down 5-2 to the Bearcats top pair, Richelle Suzuki and Anika Groener. The Pioneers slowly inched their way back with some long rallies in the win column. Playing almost errorless, Vives and Rice went on a 6-0 run to finish their last home doubles match 8-5 over the Bearcats. With the win, the Pioneers went into singles competition leading 3-0.
"It just took a little while for them to get going, but I knew the veterans in them would shine," said Coach Chau.
Sophomore, Arielle Bloom helped the Pioneers continue their hot streak in singles competition, defeating Suzuki 6-3, 6-4.
Allison Gabelman, Sujhad Amado Aguad and Hayley Kreps added dominant wins in singles as well, to help the Pioneers finish Senior Day 9-0 over the Bearcats.
"Willamette is a much improved team, but our women rose to the challenge today to play some really solid tennis," said Chau.
