KEY MOMENTS

A day after going down 2-1 after doubles, Lewis & Clark College grabbed a 2-1 lead through doubles and won five of the six singles matches, including each of the bottom four spots.

Stone and Gazor opened the match with an 8-2 win at third doubles and Dos Santos and Chio tacked on an 8-3 win at second doubles to make it 2-0.

The Lutes managed to keep it close with an 8-6 win at number one doubles.

Chio extended the advantage to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Alex Richter at third singles.

Gazor put the Pioneers a point away from clinching the win at sixth singles. The freshman posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Pacific Lutheran earned their sole singles victory at second-flight. Hampus Pers Eliasson hung on for a 6-4, 6-4 win over Logan Hausler.

Junior captain Kristian Peev secured the match win in the "match of the day" at first singles.

"Kristian came out firing and feeling like he couldn't miss and took the first set," assistant coach Phalkun Mam said. "Though he was up 3-0 (in the second set) and looked like the match would be over any minute, Pacific Lutheran's number one fought back and won the second set 6-4. Kristian cleaned up his game and hit a high percentage of his first serves and returns to clinch the match win and win the third set (6-1) against one of the conference's top players."

Peev defeated Lutes senior Michael Campbell 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to make it 5-2.

Dos Santos pushed the lead to 6-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 rout at fourth singles.

In the final match to finish, Stone downed Caleb Grass 6-2, 6-1 at fifth singles
