TACOMA, Wash.—Lewis & Clark College earned a 5-4 comeback win over host University of Puget Sound on Saturday afternoon in their Northwest Conference opener.
The Pioneers battled back from a 2-1 deficit after doubles and sophomore Miles Stone earned a come-from-behind three-set win at fifth singles to secure the 5-4 conference victory.

KEY MOMENTS
After falling behind 2-1 after doubles, Lewis & Clark won four of the six singles matches, including four of the top five flights.
Captain Kristian Peev tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number one singles.
The Pioneers took the lead when Matt Chio picked up a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Puget Sound would even the match at 3-3 as Noah Henderson defeated Logan Hausler 6-2, 6-1 at second singles.
Lewis & Clark regained the lead thanks to Alberto Dos Santos. The junior earned a close two-set win (7-5, 6-4) to make it 4-3 Pioneers.
Puget Sound rallied to tie the match at 4-4 when Brayden Saywer collected a 6-4, 7-5 win over Bennett Gazor.
The match came down to fifth-flight singles, where Stone and Puget Sound's Nicholas Pulido were tied at one set apiece.
"Miles had to weather some spectacular shots early in the third set, with his opponent hitting half-volley drop shots for winners" assistant coach Phalkun Mam said. "Miles stayed calm and patient and continued to follow the game plan he had set. He held his serve, broke his opponent's serve to go up 3-2 and never looked back."
Stone would close out the third set and the match with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win over Pulido.
DEEPER LOOK
- Chio and Dos Santos each finished the day 2-0. They paired up for an 8-2 win at second doubles.
- Saturday's match saw the two teams trade the lead three times and combined for four ties.
- With the win, Lewis & Clark has now won 12-straight matches over the Loggers dating back to the 2012-13 season.
