Women's Soccer Stays Unbeaten In Road NWC Contests

Women's Soccer earned a 1-1 tie at Pacific

Forest Grove, Ore. – Lewis and Clark College stayed unbeaten in road conference games, with a 1-1 tie against host Pacific University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Freshman Lainey Honma posted her first collegiate shot in an otherwise uneventful first half of Saturday's game. In the first 45 minutes, the Pios outshot their opponent 5-4, and both teams' goalies had two saves. 
 
Lewis and Clark started the second half strong, outshooting Pacific 3-0 in the first nine minutes. The lone Pio goal was scored in the 55th minute of the game. Freshman Megan Yanagi sent a cross from the far side of the pitch into the box. The ball bounced off a Boxer defender and into the net before it could reach either Celeste Schreifels or Sasha Raimondo. Pacific tied the game in the 66th minute on an unassisted goal from Catalina Alvarado. 
 
Brecklyn Beighle, Honma and Schreifels all had three shots in the game. Alexa Meyers added two more shots, tying her season high. 
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • With the tie, Lewis & Clark is now 3-0-2 against conference opponents in road games.  
  • Honma posted her first three career shots and first career shot on goal in her second collegiate game. 
  • Lewis & Clark scored first for the first time in five games. The Pioneers went 1-2-1 in their last four when giving up the first goal. 
  • With the tie, Lewis & Clark is now 3-0-2 against conference opponents in road games.  
  • Sasha Raimondo had a perfect shot on goal percentage (1-1) for the fourth time this fall. 
  • Lewis and Clark have outshot their opponents 109-107 this season. 
  • Junior keeper Sophia Young had three saves in the game.
