Key Moments

Combined, the top three singles entrants for the Pios lost just five games on Saturday. Attia defeated Mike Smolkis, 6-3, 6-0, in the top spot, followed by a 6-2, 6-0 win for Peev over Rene Del Barco. Vickers swept his No. 3 singles match over Aiden Velasco.

"Overall, for our first conference match, the guys have a great effort all around and are hungry for more match play," Pios assistant coach Phalkun Mam said.

Pallock was competing in the lineup for the first time and paired with first-year student-athlete Miles Stone. The pair nearly rallied back from a 4-1 deficit in No. 3 doubles after forcing a tiebreaker. Ultimately, Paul Wallace and Julian Giomi won 8-7. Pallock bounced back and shut out Levi Buck in the first game of No. 6 singles, taking the match 6-0, 6-4.

"After winning the first set 6-0, but being down a break late in second set, broke to get back on serve," Mam said of Pallock. "He held and broke once more to finish the match. Took a lot of composure from him to close out that match."
