Key Moments
The doubles play stood out to Lewis & Clark head coach Jimmy Chau on Sunday. All three duos won including an 8-3 victory for Peev and Vickers.
"Whitworth stepped up their game from the previous day, as we knew they would," Chau said. "We're still working on staying aggressive, trusting our partner and closing out in doubles, and we took steps to achieve that today."
Ramez Attia paired with Shane Lynette for an 8-4 win in the top doubles match against Ethan Violette and Cameron Brewer. Daniel Lane and Stone were 8-6 winners in third position over Jonathan Hutley and Nathan Tjelli.
"We played up in singles, which inevitably led to closer matches, which is great" Chau said. "Working through adversity and developing our match toughness were our goals heading into the day."
Peev beat Violette 7-6 (4), 7-5 in the No. 1 singles match, while Vickers took down Brewer, 6-1, 6-1, in the second spot. Stone was a straight-sets winner at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Brenden Archer.
