PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers hosted the Trinity Tigers Friday night at the Lewis & Clark Tennis Dome for their home debut. The Pioneers lost 7-1 to the Tigers, earning their sole victory from Rachael Rice and Natalie Kowal's two-set win in doubles.
Madelyn Landerfelt had a standout performance in singles despite her loss to Ashely DeBauge.
Nationally-ranked Trinity moves to 2-3 in the season, while the Pios sit at 1-2.

Key Moments
Rice and Kowal played in the second position in doubles, defeating the Tigers' Mary Kaffen and Francesca Canjar 8-7 (5). Of the three doubles matches, it was the closest. Landerfelt and Caitlin Jones played in the first position, while Maca Vives and Caroline Hennes played in the third position, both losing 8-1.
Rice played in the number one spot for singles, losing in two sets to Zoe Kaffen. Despite starting close in the first set, Rice ultimately lost 6-2, 6-1.
Landerfelt had a strong performance in the No. 2 spot, but still lost 6-4, 6-1. Her match ran the longest of the first-four singles.
