Box Score 2 PORTLAND, Ore. -- Despite three hits from senior Conner Sick, the Lewis & Clark Pioneers were kept scoreless in 4-0 loss to the Pacific Boxers on Saturday afternoon at Porter Park.
Sick had singles in the first, sixth and eighth innings to finish 3 for 4 at the plate, but he was the only Lewis & Clark batter other than Nick Lockwood with a hit in the game.
The Pioneers fell behind after a three-run fifth inning by the Boxers.
Two walks allowed the Pios to get two on base in the bottom of the sixth, but a double play after Sean Shepherd grounded out to second left Lewis & Clark with two on base.
Robert Reaser (1-3) started the game for the Pios, facing 32 batters before Jeremy Albert relieved him and pitched 1 1/3 innings.
Game 2
The Pioneers allowed 10 runs in a 10-0 defeat in the second game. Connor Eggleston had Lewis & Clark's only hit in the bottom of the second inning. The game was scoreless overall until the sixth when the Boxers posted a three-run triple, followed by three more runs.
The Pios had five different pitchers over the seven innings of play. Andrew Yarak (2-4) pitched went 5 2/3 innings, before being relieved by Austin Conniff. Nat Richman, Zach Merzlak and Ben Beck all pitched for one inning. Pacific's Paul Wolfram (4-3) faced 29 batters, grabbing the win.
The day leaves Lewis & Clark at 4-18 overall and 3-9 in NWC play. The Boxers are 11-12 and 6-11 NWC.
Dependent on the weather, the series is set to continue tomorrow at 12 p.m. at Porter Park.
