PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers got 2 for 4 performances from Matt Donovan and Sean Shepherd, but it wasn't enough to overcome an early deficit against Whitman in a 7-1, game one loss on Saturday at Huston Sports Complex.
The Pios fell 13-1 in the finale of the doubleheader after the visiting Missionaries scored eight runs in the eighth inning to add to what was a 4-1 lead.
Akira Abderrahman and Nick Lockwood joined Donovan and Shepherd with hits in the second game. Shepherd had a double in each game.
Bradley Bourdase took the game two loss after pitching seven innings and allowing nine hits and four runs.
The finale of the three-game series in Sunday at noon.
