WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Freshman Gordon Barrows put together a strong performance on Friday afternoon as the Lewis & Clark men's tennis team fell 7-2 to #15 Whitman College.
Barrows earned both of the Pioneers two points, starting with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles with teammate Pim Trouerbach. The Pioneer duo took down Colton Malesovas and James Rivers who are currently the #5 ranked doubles team in the West Region.
Kevin Ross and Michael Brewer did their best to earn the Pioneers a win in No. 2 doubles, but were unable to hold off Petar Jivkov and Robert Carter, losing 8-6.
Barrows earned his second win of the day from the No. 6 singles spot, where he defeated Gary Ho. The Pio newcomer lost the opening set 6-7, but bounced back to take the second set 7-6. The tiebreaker proved to be just as competitive with Barrows pulling out a slim 1-0 (10-7) win.
