Baseball Falls to Linfield 7-1

Box Score

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark baseball team took to the field on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference contest at Linfield, with the Wildcats walking away with a 7-1 victory.

Linfield captured a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a two-RBI double down the right field line by Corey VanDomelen.

The Pioneers cut the deficit in half in the top of the third courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Bradley Lezak. The hit knocked in Connor Eggleston who led off the inning with a walk.

The Wildcats responded in the bottom half of the inning with two more runs to take a 4-1 advantage.

Ben Beck picked up the Pioneers only other hit of the game in the fifth inning with a single to center field. Beck moved to second moments later on an Eric Hyun walk, but that would be as far as the center fielder would go.

Linfield tacked on three more runs in the seventh to conclude the scoring.

Lewis & Clark returns to the field on Saturday, April 18 at Pacific Lutheran for the start of their final Northwest Conference series. Game one is set for 12 p.m.
