McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Lewis & Clark senior pitcher Alex Heimbrodt had a stellar complete game performance for the Lewis & Clark baseball team in their 5-1 win on Sunday afternoon against #14 Linfield. 

After two scoreless innings, the Pioneers struck first blood, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. The inning started off poorly for Wildcat's ace, Justin Davis, who walked Tommy Massari before letting Christian Macdonald reach on an error. The error not only put MacDonald on base, but allowed Massari to move to third and MacDonald second. 

Davis looked to be out of the inning after sitting down the next two Pioneer batters with a strikeout and foul out. That proved to not be the case as Bradley Lezak stepped up and hit a clutch shot to the second baseman that allowed Massari score. 

Lewis & Clark surrendered the game-tying run in the bottom of the fifth with a solo homerun by Scott Hilpert. 

The lone Linfield run ignited both Heimbrodt and the Pioneer defense who did not allow another Wildcat hit the rest of the contest. 

The story was different for the Pioneers who would plate four more runs before the game was over. With two outs and runners at first and second, EJ Hand singled to left field, bringing in Lezak. Freshman Connor Eggleston followed suit with a single to right that allowed Michael Kinkenon to score, while advancing Hand to third. Moments later Massari picked up a couple RBI's of his own with a double to center that knocked in both Hand and Eggleston.

Heimbrodt moves to 1-2 overall, while pitching his second complete game of the season for the Pioneers. The senior allowed the 34 batters he faced just four hits on the day.

Massari ended the day 2-of-3 from the plate with a pair of RBI's and a run scored. Eggleston was 2-of-4 with an RBI, while Lezak was 1-of-3 with a pair of walks.

The team returns to the diamond on Tuesday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. for a single, non-conference contest at George Fox.
