CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team could not hold on in a tough fought match against Pomona-Pitzer, falling 8-1 on Friday afternoon.
The Sagehens swept the Pioneers in doubles, before taking the first two singles matches for the victory.
Despite falling 8-1, the Pioneers played well in three through six singles, starting with Daniel Hahm's match at No. 3 singles. Hahm fell 6-3 in the opening set before taking down Thomas Low 6-1 in the second. In the tiebreaker, Hahm ended up falling 1-0 (10-7) after a long back and forth.
Pim Trouerbach fought Kevin Wei for every point in the No. 4 position. Trouerbach lost 6-4 in the opening set but won in a tiebreaker in the second, winning 7-6 (7-2). The third and final set also required a tiebreaker with Wei pulling out a 1-0 (10-8) victory.
Harrison Collins picked up the Pioneers lone win from the No. 5 spot, taking down Sam Crawford in a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory. Kei Inoue forced a tiebreaker in his match at No. 6 singles, falling 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4-10).
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. against Occidental.
