SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team picked up its fourth straight Northwest Conference win on Sunday afternoon, defeating Willamette 8-1 on the road.
The Pios improve to 4-1 on the season and 4-0 in the NWC, while Willamette falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.
Lewis & Clark swept Willamette in singles, starting with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles by Michael Brewer. Kevin Ross battled strong with Jack Schreiber at No. 2 singles, taking down his foe 7-6 (7-4) in the opening set before winning decisively (6-2) in the second.
Morgan Joyce also had to fight for his win, taking Gunnar Lee to three sets in the No. 3 spot. Joyce dropped the opening set 2-6, before rallying to win the second 6-4. The duo then went back and forth in the third set with Joyce picking up the 1-0 (10-8) win.
Daniel Hahm won 6-4, 6-3 as the No. 4, while Harrison Collins won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and Gordon Barrows defeated Derek Lund 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot.
Brewer and Ross won 8-2 in doubles, while Collins and Hahm won 8-0 in No. 3 doubles. Joyce and Barrows teamed up in No. 1 doubles but were unable to take down Lee and Jacob Blaisdell, falling 8-4.
The Pios return to action on Saturday, March 7 at Pacific for a 11 a.m. match.
