McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team picked up a Northwest Conference win over Linfield on Saturday, defeating the Wildcats 9-0 on the road.
The win moves the Pioneers to 3-1 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in conference play. The Wildcats fall to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the NWC.
Michael Brewer and Kevin Ross battled tough against Kelsey Rosborough and Lukas Kleinman in No. 1 doubles, pulling out an exciting 8-6 victory. Daniel Hahm and Harrison Collins were also challenged in their doubles match, defeating Ben McNair and Micah Roos 8-5. Gordon Barrows and Pim Trouerbach had an easier time then their teammates in No. 3 doubles, earning an 8-1 victory.
In singles action, the Pioneers played solid 1-6 with nobody dropping a set. Ross took down McNair as the Pios top singles player, winning 6-2, 6-1. Hahm competed as the No. 2, winning 6-3, 6-1 over Rosborough, while Collins blanked Roos 6-0, 6-0.
G. Barrows defeated Kleinman 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot, Parker Nichols earned a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 5 spot and Trouerbach won 6-4, 6-0 as the No. 6.
The Pioneers return to the court on Sunday, March 1 at Willamette for an 11 a.m. match.
