PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team picked up its second consecutive Northwest Conference win on Sunday, defeating Pacific Lutheran in the L&C Tennis Dome 8-1.
The win moves the Pioneers to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the NWC, while PLU falls to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in conference.
The Pioneers swept through doubles, with Morgan Joyce and Gordon Barrows leading the way with a defeat of James Okubo and Sam Stadter 8-1 in the No. 1 spot. Michael Brewer and Kevin Ross collected an 8-3 win in the No. 2 position, while Daniel Hahm and Harrison Collins won their match 8-4.
Brewer picked up another singles win from the No. 1 position, defeating Stadter 6-0, 6-2. Ross took down Sam Angel 6-3, 6-3, while Hahm defeated Okubo 6-2, 6-2. The Barrow brothers won their matches from the No. 4 and No. 5 spot, with Gordon defeating Noel Oteng-Mensah 6-3, 6-3 as the four. Brenden Barrows took down Alberto Leal 6-1 in the opening set and 6-3 in the second.
The Lutes lone point came in the No. 6 position with Jeremy Marsh defeating Carter Gee-Taylor after three. Gee-Taylor won the opening set 6-1 before falling 1-6, 2-10 in the final two.
The Pios return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Linfield for a 11 a.m. match.
