RESULTS

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team dropped a hard fought match to the Pacific Boxers on Friday afternoon in Northwest Conference action, falling 5-4 in the L&C Tennis Dome.

Kevin Ross helped the Pioneers pick up two of their four points, starting off with a 9-8 (7-2) win at No. 3 doubles with partner Parker Nichols. The Pio duo battled strong, earning the teams only doubles point over Alen Suklje and Reuben Mulhern.

Daniel Hahm and Morgan Joyce were close to earning a point for Lewis & Clark at the No. 2 spot, but ultimately fell 9-7 to Brennan Faith and Grayson Fraizier. Michael Brewer and Cameron Smith could not overcome Troy Zuroske and Giancarlo Battaglia at the No. 1 position falling 8-2.

Brewer had to fight through three sets in order to earn a singles point for Lewis & Clark, knocking off Zuroske 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Ross earned his second point of the night as the Pios No. 2 singles player, taking down Battaglia 6-2, 6-4. Joyce rounded out the Pioneer points with a 6-3, 6-3 take down of Frazier in the No. 4 spot.

Scott Monismith came close to pulling out the match for Lewis & Clark taking Clark Wininger to three sets in the No. 6 singles position. Monismtih fell 6-4 in the opeing set, but bounced back to take the second by the same score. Wininger found a way to take control, winning the third and final set 6-2.

Lewis & Clark hosts Linfield at 11 a.m. in the L&C Tennis Dome on Saturday, March 15.
