Men's Tennis Sweeps Singles Round to Defeat Pacific Lutheran 7-2

RESULTS

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team won all six single points en route to a 7-2 Northwest Conference win over the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in the L&C Tennis Dome.  

The win is the Pioneers first of the season after starting off the year with two contests against Division I opponents. The Pios improve to 1-0 in conference. Pacific Lutheran is still in search of its first win, falling to 0-2 overall and in conference. 

Freshman Michael Brewer easily took down Sam Angel 6-1 in both of his sets from the No. 1 spot. Kevin Ross worked hard in the No. 2 position, fighting Sam Stadter for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory. Daniel Hahm won both of his sets from the No. 3 (6-1, 6-2), as did Scott Monismith from the No. 5 (6-2, 6-2). Morgan Joyce pulled out a win from the No. 4 position after taking James Okubo to a tie-breaker. Joyce dropped the opening set 4-6, but bounced back to win the match 6-0, 7-6 (6-4). Parker Nichols also forced a tie-breaker from the No. 6 spot winning 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (12-10). 

The Pios lone doubles point came from the No. 1 team of Brewer and Ross who took down Angel and Berg 8-2.

Lewis & Clark returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. at George Fox.
