Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Lewis & Clark men's basketball team fell to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 55-34 on Friday night in the opening game of the Wells Classic Tournament.
The Pioneers were led by 11 points from Cannen Roberson, followed by seven points from Carl Appleton. Junior Jason Luhnow finished the contest with a game-high 10 rebounds, seven of which came on the defensive side of the ball. Luhnow and Bradley Carter both finished with four points.
Tyler Gaffaney ended the game with 23 points for the Stags, while Jason Harrington pulled down a team-high six boards.
Lewis & Clark fell behind early in the first half before coming back to take an 8-6 lead with 12:09 remaining in the half, courtest of a Serg Ovchinnikov three pointer. Two sets of back-to-back made free-throws by the Stags gave them the lead back for good.
The Pioneers return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. against Pomona-Pitzer.
