TEXAS - The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team picked up its fifth 9-0 win of the season on Thursday, defeating Southwestern (TX) as part of the Pioneers spring break trip. The Pioneers then faced off against #17 Trinity on Friday, falling to the Tigers 6-3.
SOUTHWESTERN
The Pioneers rolled through Southwestern with ease with Aurora Garrison (No. 1) and Claudia Lew (No. 3) earning 6-0 , 6-0 wins in singles, while Gillian Lowe (No. 4) and Izzy Borris (No. 6) both won 6-1, 6-0. At the No. 2 position, Olivia Cornell defeated her opponent 6-1 in both sets, while Lisa Osepyan took down her foe 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot.
The duo of Garrison and Lowe earned an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, as did Cornell and Lew from the No. 2. Borris and Osepyan collected an 8-4 win.
TRINITY
Against Trinity, both the Pioneers singles points came after three hard fought sets, with Lew earning the first win at the No. 3 spot. Lew fell 6-2 in the opening set before bouncing back to win 6-2 and 7-6. Borris took her first set 6-3 before slipping 6-2 in the second set. In the third and deciding set, Borris pulled out a 10-8 victory.
Garrison and Lew earned the teams only other point, defeating their opponents 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
