BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark baseball team dropped game three of its Northwest Conference series with the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday, falling 14-2.

After sitting the Pioneers down in order in the top of the first inning, the Bearcat offense went to work scoring four runs in their half of the first on two hits and two Pio errors.

The Pioneers picked up a run in the second inning with Michael Kinkenon coming around to score on a fielder's choice.

Willamette earned the run back in the fourth but Lewis & Clark made it a 5-2 game in the top of the fifth. Senior Geoff Wertz picked up the RBI with a single to left field that allowed Evan Gray to score from second. Gray led off the fifth with a single through the right side, before moving to second on a Matthew Cathcart single.

The Bearcats scored one run in both the fifth and sixth, before a huge seventh inning put Willamette ahead 13-2. Willamette finished scoring in the bottom of the eighth with a triple to center that knocked in a run.

The Pioneers return to action this week with their second trip to Arizona.
