SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark baseball team opened the regular season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Corban Warriors 4-2 and 11-2.
In game one, the Pioneers started the second inning with a lead off double, but could not find a way to get the runner across the plate. Corban took advantage of a Pio error in the bottom half of the second inning to put the first run of the day on the board.
Down 1-0 in the third, Michael Kinkenon picked up an RBI single to pull the Pios even. Corban once against countered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring on a pass ball.
Another Lewis & Clark error allowed the Warriors to send another runner home, taking a 3-1 advantage.
The Warriors increased their lead to 4-1 in the fifth with an RBI single. Lewis & Clark managed to earn another run in the ninth inning, but would not be able to plate anymore.
Lewis & Clark takes the field again on Friday, Feb. 15 as the Pioneers head to Spokane for the Swing into Spring Classic.
