Men's Tennis Defeats Pacific Lutheran 5-4

RESULTS

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team defeated the Pacific Lutheran Lutes on Saturday afternoon, 5-4, in a Northwest Conference match.

Freshman Olivier Groot defeated Daniel Cotton 6-1, 6-0 from No. 1 singles, while Cole Pfeifer took down Raymond Deleon 6-2 in both sets from the No. 5 spot. Lucas Fodor picked up the teams other singles point, taking down Zach Blakeslee 7-5, 6-3 from the No. 6 position.

The difference maker for the Pioneers was taking two out of three doubles matches. Groot and teammate Quinn Roth-Carter earned a hard fought 9-7 win over Cotton and Taylor Dickey in the No. 1 spot.

Scott Monismith and Christian Stanbrook teamed up in the No. 3 spot, taking down Deleon and Kyle McKee 8-4.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, April 8 at 10 a.m. against Pacific in non-conference action.
