SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team hit the road for the first time this season after opening up the season with three consecutive home games. The Pioneers traveled to Willamette to take on the Bearcats in a Northwest Conference match. The Bearcats got the better of the young Pioneer side winning 7-2.
The Pioneers fall to 0-4 on the year and 0-3 in conference action. The Bearcats improve to 3-2 on the season and 1-2 in the NWC.
Lewis & Clark picked up one win in singles action and one win in doubles play. Olivia Sweetman earned the Pios single win, playing out of the No. 4 spot where she faced off against Emily Bee. Bee earned an opening set victory, taking down Sweetman 6-4. Sweetman bounced back in the second set earning a 6-4 victory before cruising to a stellar 6-2 win to take the match.
In doubles, Gillian Lowe and Lisa Osepyan teamed up to take on Bee and Denise Poltavski in the No. 2 position. The two Pios battled strong, eventually earning a hard fought 8-6 win.
Lewis & Clark returns to action on Saturday, March 3 at 11 a.m. hosting Puget Sound at the L&C Tennis Dome.
