Women's Tennis Earns Second Consecutive Conference Win After Defeating Pacific Lutheran 7-2

RESULTS

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team won its second consecutive match on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Pacific Lutheran Lutes 7-2 in Northwest Conference action.

The Pioneers won five out of six singles matches, starting with Lisa Osepyan in the No. 1 spot. Osepyan took down Leah Newell 6-3 in the first set and then 6-2 in the second. Senior Jill Coleman earned a victory from the No. 2 position, picking up a 6-1 win in the first set before blanking her opponent in the second for a 6-0 win.

Gillian Lowe defeated Tina Aarsvold in the No. 3 position with a solid 6-3, 6-0 victory. Sophomore Olivia Sweetman earned two 6-2 victories in the No. 4 spot over Allison McClure. Freshman Justin Minette rounded out the singles points for the Pioneers, picking up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Katherine Patton.

Elisa Alway nearly earned a singles point from the Pios from the No. 6 position, battling Cahterine Miolla to three sets. Alway won the first set 6-3, before falling 7-5 in the second. Miolla pulled out a 1-0 (10-5) win in the third set to earn the Lutes the point.

Osepyan and Lowe partnered up in the No. 1 doubles spot to earn their fourth victory of the season. The duo defeated Leah Newell and Aarsvold 8-5. The Pioneers final point of the match came from Coleman and Sweetman, who took down Cora Wigen and Valery Jorgensen 8-4 from the No. 2 doubles position.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, March 18 at 10 a.m. when they host Bellevue College.
