GAME ONE
GAME TWO
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark baseball team dropped two games to Corban on Saturday afternoon at the Huston Sports Complex. Despite playing on their home field, the Pioneers were the visiting team, falling 8-0 and 6-5.
The games were moved from Salem to Portland after bad weather conditions made the Warriors home field unplayable.
Senior Michael Ball managed the Pioneers only hit in the first game with a single in the fourth. Mike Hathaway pitched five innings for the Pioneers, striking out five batters, while picking up his second loss of the season.
The Warriors pulled ahead 3-0 in the second inning of game two. Candelaria knocked in two runs on a double, followed by an RBI single from Gallegos.
Nick Lavin pulled the Pioneers even in the top of the fourth with a three-run homerun that brought in Ball and Eric Hyun.
Another Warrior run crossed the plate in the fifth, once again putting Corban on top. The Pioneers allowed two more Warrior runs to score in the sixth inning on two costly errors.
Freshman Andrew Traver pulled the Pioneers within a run with a two-run shot in the top of the seventh. That would be as close as Lewis & Clark would come with the next batter grounding out for the third out of the inning and game.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 12 p.m. in their official home opener as they take on the Warriors in another double-header.
