SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark baseball team fell to the WIllamette Bearcats on Wednesday evening in a non-conference contest.
The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-27 on the season, while the Bearcats improve to 15-14.
The game belonged to the Bearcats from the start, with the home team buidling up a 12-1 advantage through just two innings of play.
The Pioneers posted their first run of the game in the top of second inning on an RBI double from Parker Dane that brought in Sam Holman. Eliot Smith added a run for the Pioneers in the next inning when he knocked in Michael Ball.
Willamette earned a run back in the fourth, before tacking on four more in the sixth. The Pioneers also managed to get on the board in the sixth inning with freshman Corey Davis starting things with an RBI double. Dane came around to score later on a ground out by Geoff Wertz, while Davis came around to score on a sacrific fly by Ball.
Nick Lavin brought in the final Pioneer run in the seventh on a single up the middle that scored Smith. Willamette also managed to score in the home half of the inning, plating two more runs to take the game 19-6.
The Pioneers return to action on April 16 at noon when they head to Newburg to take on George Fox.
