NEWBURG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's basketball team fell 71-70 to the George Fox Bruins on Saturday night in the Wheeler Sports Center.
The loss drops the Pioneers to 15-6 on the season and 8-4 in Northwest Conference action. Despite the loss the Pioneers are still in second place in the NWC, along with the Whitman Missionaries. The Bruins improve to 7-14 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
Senior Kelly Edwards led the Pioneers with the teams only double-double, scoring 22 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Edwards finished the night 7-14 from the floor and 7-9 from the free-throw line. Senior Kyle Meeuwsen ended the night with 18 points and six rebounds. PJ Taylor contributed seven points and Donato Perconti chipped in six points and eight boards.
Mike Taylor led the Bruins with a game-high 26 points and 13 rebounds. Sean Atkins scored 11 points for GFU, while Rich Smith and Stephen Wiseley had 10 points each.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. when they host the Pacific Boxers.
