Pioneers Fall to Nationally Ranked #19 Whitman

PORTLAND, OR.-

Driving through ice, rain, and snow, the Pioneer Men finish off the tough weekend in a 9-0 loss to the Missionaries.  Facing the second regionally ranked team in 18 hours, the Pioneers gave it their all as they were overwhelmed in Walla Walla.

The #2 doubles flight finished in a blink of an eye as Sam Sadeghi and Adriel Borshansky kept Cole Pfeiffer and Sam Franer on their heels all match long in an 8-0 win.  The Missionaries built an early lead and took the liberty of playing freely and aggressively en route to the easy victory.  Quinn Roth-Carter had a strong doubles showing playing with senior partner George Allen in the #1 doubles slot.  Although the duo lost 8-3 to Quin Miller and Matt Tesmond, Roth-Carter held his serve in all three games with Allen patrolling the net.

Singles action would see similar lop-sided scores, but long points were the norm in the #2 and #3 flights.  Roth Carter continued to serve well to keep Sadeghi's big return game at bay and Pfeiffer forced Borshansky to earn every single point he won.  Freshman Will Huskey turned in a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win over Sam Franer as the Missionaries would only give up nine total games in singles action.

The Pioneers eagerly await the Pacific Lutheran Lutes next Saturday the 5th at home.
