PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's basketball team hand its hands full with the Pacific Boxers on Friday night in the Pamplin Sports Complex, defeating their Northwest Conference foe 45-42.
The Pioneers improve to 16-6 on the season and 9-4 in conference action. With the victory the Pioneers remain in second place in the NWC as the conference season winds down. The win clinches a spot for the Pioneers in the NWC Tournamnet which will be held Feb. 24 and Feb. 26. The Boxers fall to 3-19 overall and 2-11 in the NWC.
Junior PJ Taylor led the Pioneers offensively with 14 points, finishing 5-10 from the floor. Senior Kyle Meeuwsen ended the night with 12 points for the Pioneers, while Donato Perconti chipped in 11. Meeuwsen pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in the Pios efforts.
Pacific was led by a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds from LeMarcus Anglin. Colin Wester contributed 11 points in the Boxer loss.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. when they host the Pacific Lutheran Lutes.
