Men's Basketball Falls To Undefeated Whitworth 79-52

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark men's basketball team dropped a 79-52 Northwest Conference contest to the Whitworth Pirates on Saturday night in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

The Pioneers fall to 14-5 on the season and 7-3 in conference play. With the loss the Pioneers move into a two-way tie for second place with the Pacific Lutheran Lutes. The Pirates maintain control of first place in the conference with the victory and remain the NWC's only undefeated team. Whitworth is now 19-0 overall and 10-0 in NWC action.

Junior PJ Taylor led the Pioneer offense with a team-high 13 points, finishing 4-7 from the floor. Senior Kyle Meeuwsen ended the night with 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Kelly Edwards chipped in nine points and freshman Quentin Sims finished the night with seven.

The Pirates were led by a game-high 23 points from David Riley, while Mike Taylor ended the night with 16 points. Jack Loofburrow also ended the night in double figures for the Pirates with 12 points.

The Pioneers return to action on Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. when the team heads to McMinnville to take on the Linfield Wildcats.
