GAME ONE
GAME TWO
FOREST GROVE – The Lewis & Clark
baseball team fell in back-to-back Northwest Conference games to
Pacific, courtesy of a pair of strong pitching efforts at Chuck
Bafaro Stadium. The Boxers squeaked out a 5-4 victory in game one,
before picking up a 12-0 win in the nightcap.
In the opener, the Pioneers had Pacific playing catch-up for much
of the game. The Pioneers scored two in the first, scoring runs on
singles by Sami Morgan and Parker Dane. The Boxers scored on in the
bottom of the first on Kaeo Lau Hee's single and tied it in the
second on a bases loaded walk.
Pacific took the lead in the sixth when Kyle Barksdale reached on
an error, allowing Nate Rasmussen to score. The Pioneers tied it a
3-3 in the seventh when Dane plated on a sacrifice fly and went
ahead 4-3 in the eighth on A.J. Brown's single that scored Michael
Ball.
The Boxers won it in the home half of the eighth on a two-out
rally. Pacific got lucky and were able to put runners on first and
second with a hit batter and a pitch, reliever Alex. St. Pierre
intentionally walked Mike Nagamine to set up the force out at any
base. Anderson delivered, however, with a two-run single to right
field that won the game.
In the second game, the Boxers scored all of the runs they would
need in the second. Scott Rowland opened scoring when he plated on
a balk, which was followed by a RBI single by Joey Pulito and a RBI
double by Jeramey Probert. Lau Hee punctuated the frame with his
fourth home run of the season, a three-run shot to left field.
Pacific added a pair in the third on singles by Pulito and
Probert. The Boxers would not score again until the sixth. Pacific
added one in the ninth on a single by Probert.
The two teams will conclude their series on at noon when the
Pioneers travel again to Forest Grove for their final games of the
season.
