TACOMA, Wash., - The Lewis & Clark men's
tennis team dropped two Northwest Conference matches against
Pacific Lutheran on Saturday afternoon, falling by identical 7-2
scores. The Pioneers slip to 0-6 on the season and are currently
0-4 in NWC action.
Match one saw the team of Vincent Groot and Peter Ray earn the
Pioneers a doubles point over Justin Parretta and Zack Ayyat. The
two teams battled each other tough, forcing the match into a
tie-breaker in which the Pioneers won (9-8 [7-5]). Amory Parker
earned the other Pioneer point, defeating Michael Parretta in the
No. 5 singles spot. Parker knocked off Parretta 6-1, 4-6, 7-6.
Groot helped the Pioneers collect one of their points in the second
match of the day, taking out Michael Manoer from the No. 1 singles
spot 7-6, 4-6, 10-6. The Pioneers second point came from Matthias
Kullawatz in the No. 6 spot, defeating Ben Fox in three sets, 6-3,
4-6, 10-8.
The Pioneers return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m.
when they travel to NWC foe George Fox.
